Dryvit, Stucco, EIFS, Hardcoat - It is called many things but each of these stucco systems have one thing in common. If water penetrates the system it can cause a real nightmare. Fortunately the really bad causes are not as common as the media has made it out to be. However, there are properties that do have serious problems. The trouble  is how do you know if you have these problems or if you may in the future.
Our first recommendation to our every client is to have the property inspected by a certified stucco inspector.
Then we can evaluate the findings to determine what repairs or upgrades are needed.
Most homes and commercial buildings just need some upgrades to flashing details or some additional sealant details.
After the initial inspection and repair phase we recommend getting a stucco inspection periodically during ownership to document everything is functioning as intended. This only needs to be done every 18 to 24 months.
If these guidelines are followed, a stucco home or commercial building should stand up to the elements just as well or better than any other exterior cladding.
